Sunday 25th February saw the area 3 British Riding Clubs battling it out at the winter
team show jumping competition. The event was held at Osbaldeston Equestrian Centre in Lancashire which benefits from two indoor arenas and plenty of hard standing for car parking. The heated café was also hugely appreciated by all the competitors and helpers who helped themselves to plenty of coffee and food throughout the day. On this occasion Pole Moor Riding Club had one team submitted in the senior 80- 85cm class which was made up of Hannah Pedley, Louise Harper, Lucy Thompson and Nikki Richmond. The competition was run over two rounds; fences started at 80cm in the first round and the course was changed and fences went up to 85cm in the second round. The course flowed nicely but was still a true test of accuracy and was up to height with some aspects catching out competitors from all teams throughout the day.

Well, what a fantastic final round we had. Lots of familiar faces as well as some new ones. The day was filled with some spectacular jumping along with some equally spectacular falls (we hope you are all feeling ok this morning) and most importantly lots of smiling faces. We even had the sun shining down on us and how nice was it to finish with plenty of daylight left!
The official photos will be available to purchase soon from Andy Kershaw Photography but please feel free to send us any photos or videos we have and we will add them to our gallery page. The final league tables have been well and truly shaken up and are now in the process of being updated so keep checking our results page or our Facebook page and we will be preparing the winners prizes for our presentation on Tuesday 6th March (again check out the results page or the Facebook event for full details). Don't forget if you placed in the 60 or 70cm classes and you are a member of any BRC affiliated riding club you are eligible to earn points for the BRC Grassroots League. You just need to contact us so we can get a signed card sent out to you. Remember the BRC need all signed cards by the 7th of March for your points to count. We would like to thank the team at Woodnook for the use of the venue, jumps and all their hard work preparing the courses for us, Kerry and her fantastic team from AP Vintage Trailers for keeping us fed and watered throughout the shows, Andy Kershaw for his fantastic photography skills (pictures available for purchase), all our helpers whom without the shows wouldn't be possible and last but most definitely not least all our competitors, spectators and grooms. We hope to see you all again at next years shows!! Our teams had an amazing time on the weekend, despite the severely cold weather! We had plenty of rosettes and some fabulous riding all round. As the event had been postponed from Christmas due to many of the competitors being snowed in – the dress theme was still Christmas Jumpers (which was fortunate really as these helped keep out the cold). Our novice team (60/65cm), quite aptly named 'The Christmas Jumpers' was made up of our own Pole Moor members Joanne Hallinan riding Bonny and Holly Killburn riding Beau. We were joined by Ackworth member Emma Martin riding her mothers youngster Louis and Colne Valley's Danni Shaw riding Bambi. All of the horses were young or green so it was a big test for them to compete in a spooky indoor arena over a winding course with plenty of fillers. Everyone jumped at least one clear round and the team ended up on a total of 8 faults resulting in them being placed 4th. |
