Brooke - Action for working horses and donkeys

About
Brooke is an international animal welfare charity dedicated to improving the lives of working horses, donkeys and mules. Operating in Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Middle East, we reach over two million working horses, donkeys and mules – more than any other organisation. We employ around 900 staff worldwide, including vets, animal welfare experts and development specialists.
Events
MyHackathon! - Hack 100 miles in 100 days to raise £100. See our news page for more details.
Cooke for the Brooke - we are planning a social evening where we do the cooking and people simply turn up and eat. Donations are taken as payment for the meals with all proceeds going to Brooke. Further details to follow.

Dial Wood Carriage Driving for the Disabled

About
Dial Wood is run entirely by volunteers. Every helper who comes to us is a volunteer and commits to a few hours each week. All volunteers receive regular training in health and safety, stable management and preparing ponies for carriage driving. In return, volunteers receive RDA certificates and hours can be earned towards Duke of Edinburgh and Volunteering Awards. If you can spare a few hours a week please give us a call, and arrange to come along to one of our sessions. All our volunteers have recently undertaken first aid training successfully.

World Horse Welfare

About
World Horse Welfare are an international horse charity that improves the lives of horses in the UK and around the world through education, campaigning and hands-on care.
When founder Ada Cole witnessed a procession of work-worn British horses unloaded at the docks of Antwerp and whipped for four miles to slaughter, she was determined to stop the appalling cruelty of these journeys. Ten years later the campaign succeeded and 85 years on World Horse Welfare is still driven by the same desire to stop unnecessary suffering, using a practical approach and scientific evidence to deliver lasting change across the full spectrum of the horse world.
We have previously arranged visits to Penny Farm near Blackpool and we are hoping to arrange another visit in 2018. If you would be interested in joining us please let us know so we can arrange a date that suits as many people as possible.
